Hello

My name is Ben Sharpe.

I am a professional Dancer and Choreographer Creative based in the Midlands.

Welcome to my website, here you will find a little more about me... how I started dancing and just how far I have come. I have had an incredible journey so far with lots of highs but also a few lows.

My Story

My name is Ben Sharpe, a Professional Dancer and Freelance Creative/Choreographer. I began my career at a young age at my mother's dance school: "EDMAR School of Dance". I gained many exams with the "I.D.T.A". I participated in numerous dance festivals/competitions with great success. I was fortunate to be able to perform in many amateur shows and pantomimes with the "B.W.O.S" being part of the ensemble and then lucky enough to land some lead roles. Unfortunately for personal reasons my mother had to close the school, when I was 13 years old. Undeterred I enrolled at "Dupont Stage School" where I continued my training with the "R.A.D" and "I.S.T.D". I then set my sights on auditions for prestigious dance colleges to pursue my professional training. At the age of 17 I felt I wasn't quite ready to move to London. I auditioned for "Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama" (MADD) and was offered a place. In 2014 I moved to Nottingham and so my professional journey began. While at "MADD" I had some incredible experiences, securing my first two professional jobs, an actor with "Birmingham Royal Ballet" in their production of "Romeo and Juliet" and the ensemble in "Dick Whittington" at Solihull. I did "Move it" 3 years in a row and also performed at "Mass Movement" and "Can you Dance?" events all over the UK. I also gained a teaching qualification.

After I graduated in 2017 I was offered agent representation by "CDM Management", a week after graduation I was sent to London for a closed boys audition for "PEEL Entertainment". I got offered a contract as part of the show team for a cruise ship, and so within two weeks of graduating I moved to Keighley to begin the three month rehearsal period. I then joined the ship "Marella Celebration", for the first half of the contract we were in the Caribbean, then we returned to the med to finish this contract off. I was then offered another contract for "PEEL Entertainment" on "Marella Dream", this time I was offered the role of "Dance Captain", I loved the extra responsibility.

Once back in the UK, I decided to explore the cruising world further. I was contacted by "Mirage" for "Fred Olsen", and I relocated to Norwich to begin rehearsals. I spent three months learning new incredible shows, but unfortunately, Covid hit, and we went into lockdown. As a result, my contract with "Fred Olsen" was terminated, which left me feeling very disappointed.

During lockdown, I was fortunate enough to secure a job at "Tesco". I worked as an online picker, starting at an absurdly early hour and continuing until midday, six days a week. I was grateful for this job as it kept me occupied and provided a steady income. I then went to work for an online clothing brand as a customer service advisor, which I thoroughly enjoyed. After a few months, we were still in lockdown, and I began to reflect on my long-term career goals. I continued in this role for approximately two years before receiving that long-awaited phone call that offered me a position back at sea as a dancer."PEEL Entertainment" offered me another contract, so in January 2022 I packed my bags and embarked on rehearsals in Keighley. I spent two months training to return to sea with a brand new cruise line, "Ambassador Cruise Line" and was part of the inaugural team and also served as the dance captain for the first team of this company. We then flew to Croatia, where we joined the ship and spent the rest of the year sailing around the world. A few weeks after my return, I received another call inviting me to rejoin "Ambience" as a replacement dancer. I eagerly accepted this offer and began packing, joining the ship in the following days to learn new shows and familiarise myself with the opposite side of the choreography.

In November 2023, I concluded this contract and decided to explore a different path in the cruise industry. Consequently, I transitioned into becoming one part of a dance couple on "SAGA Cruises" for "Dance-A-Float". We were luckily enough to secure six months of work spread throughout the entire year of 2024. During this period, we worked as guest entertainers onboard the two "SAGA" ships. In between my time at sea, I ventured into supporting artist work for various television and film companies, including "ITV", "BBC", "Channel 5" and "Working Title Films", among others and was I also worked towards getting my Mental Health First Aider Certificate which I gained.

In January 2025, I was lucky enough to embark on a new adventure as a dance instructor on "Carnival Radiance" for "Blackburn International", travelling all the way to Los Angeles where I joined the ship for two weeks cruising over to and around Hawaii, teaching people onboard.

In February 2025, I was approached by "PEEL Entertainment" and invited to collaborate with the "Ambassador Ambience Cast 5" to commence their rehearsals. I provided them with training and re-choreographed four micro shows before teaching them two main shows.

In July 2025, I was lucky enough to be asked back by "PEEL Entertainment" to work with the "Ambassador Ambition Cast 4" to help teach them 8 main production shows as part of their rehearsal period and then install them on the ship.

I feel so blessed to have been able to make a career out of something I love so much, it's true what they say:

"If you love what you do you never work a day in your life"

I feel now that I am ready to pass my knowledge onto other up and coming talent, so they can enjoy as an amazing life as I have had so far.

So that's my story so far to be continued...
